Open Burning of trash consisting of plastics, rubber, cans, glass, garbage, leaves, and grass clippings is prohibited by the Ohio Fire Codes and EPA. New: Open Burning regulation in Elyria Township was given enforcement 'muscle' with Resolution NO. 021510-03—adopted Feb. 15th, 2010 by the township trustees. The Lorain County Sheriff's Dept. in conjunction with the Township Fire Dept. will be in a better position to enforce prosecution of violators. Please contact the Township FIre Department before you open burn... this includes bonfires as well.
