Chronicle Sunday community page another source for township news
We want to improve our township's image and let everyone know about us. The Chronicle-Telegram has a section titled ‘YOURTOWN’ in the Sunday edition. They are pretty flexible about what's published. It can be upcoming events, community advisories, Girl Scout or Boy Scout news, military news about a township residents or fundraisers. Basically, the rule of thumb is : "Will the readers find the information informative or entertaining to read?". They love submitted photos. That puts an item right to the top of the list because they love putting their readers in the paper.

County waste center opens in Elyria |

New county waste center
opens in Elyria June 19th
The center, located at 540 South Abbe Road (behind McDonalds) opens at 10 am on June 19th.
The following items are accepted: Electronics (e-scrap), Tires, Fluorescent Bulbs, Ballasts and Household Hazardous Waste

The services are available to Lorain County Residents only.
The center's regular hours will be Mondays and Wednesdays noon to 6 pm and Saturdays 9 am to 6 pm

Bulk item pick up returns to township |
|

Next Curbside Pick-up Day:
your trash day the first full workweek of the month
Collect bulk items from individual households who subscribe to solid waste collection service the first full workweek of each month beginning in March 2010. Bulk items will include washers, dryers, household furniture, carpeting, television sets, refrigerators, freezers, window a/c units, dehumidifiers (minus Freon), tables and chairs and up to 3-32 gallon cans or 6 bags of additional household trash. Christmas trees picked up the first full week of January.
Not permitted at the curb: large car parts, batteries, liquids, extra bags or cans of trash except on bulk week.
Note: Contractors are responsible for removal of building materials and debris.
Contract for solid waste services with individual subscribers. Residents will be billed on a quarterly basis.
The above wording comes from an Elyria Township Memorandum of Understanding that the township trustees signed with Republic Services Inc. that returned bulk item pickup to the township beginning March 1st 2010.
